Waubs Harbour Great Southern Reef Single Malt Whisky 500ml

This Limited Release maritime single malt whisky has been crafted to support the Great Southern Reef Foundation and is exclusively made, matured, and bottled at the Waubs Harbour Distillery, located in Tasmania's east coast, just a few meters from the sea and encompassed by salty air. Only 591 bottles of this exquisite whisky have been produced, matured in ex-Apera Sherry casks and finished in 40-year-old ex-Tawny Port casks from Murray Street. The combination of Apera stewed fruits and Murray Street's Tawny Port's salted caramel backbone creates a highly complex and deep flavor that can only be found in aged fortified beverages. This whisky is bottled at 43% Alc/Vol and is only available in Australia.

The Great Southern Reef Foundation is a team of dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to raise awareness of the interconnected reef system that stretches across southern Australia and Tasmania. They partner with local organizations to combat the devastating effects of climate change.

Upon tasting, one can expect ripe orchard fruits of apple, apricot, pear, and nectarine, complemented by caramelized sugar and baking spices. The palate delivers a signature salted caramel taste, combined with stewed fruits, buttery pastry, and hints of Tawny Port and Apera cask, all of which are perfectly complemented by golden syrup. The finish is long and satisfying, with notes of caramelized apple, pear tarte tatin, bread and butter pudding, and treacle toffee.
