Bushmills Causeway 2008 Jupille Casks Irish Whiskey 700ml

The whiskey undergoes a 10-year aging process in Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks, followed by an additional three years in Jupille casks. The Jupille casks are made from French oak sourced from the Jupille forest in the Loire Valley. Although there is limited information on the specific influence of this wood on the whiskey's maturation, the end result is a delightful flavor.

On the nose, the whiskey offers a sweet and rich aroma, characterized by overripe blackberries, black cherries, plums, and red grapes. There are also hints of freshly grated ginger and rooibos tea. The intense and penetrating fruit notes create a bold and creamy scent, complemented by the presence of cream chocolate and nougat.

When tasted, the whiskey delivers a strong and spicy kick. The abundance of ripe plums, blackberries, blueberries, and cherries is balanced by the spiciness, ensuring that the fruit flavors remain authentic and not artificial. There are additional notes of toffee, marzipan, cocoa powder, and a touch of menthol. The overall experience is enriched by a pleasant dryness that emerges fairly quickly.

The finish is notably long, attributed to the lingering fruit notes, persistent spiciness, and the drying effect of the wood.
