Benriach 12 Year Old CNY Dragon 2024 700ml

Benriach has announced the release of a limited edition of its Twelve expression to celebrate the Lunar New Year in 2024, which coincides with the Year of the Dragon. This follows the successful launch of the Year of the Rabbit edition in 2023, marking the second release in the brand's Lunar New Year annual series. The Twelve is a sherry-rich single malt that continues to build on the legacy of Benriach expressions released at a similar age, with a predominant focus on sherry cask maturation. The addition of port cask maturation to the recipe has enhanced the baked fruit notes, resulting in a more intense flavor profile. The making of Benriach Twelve involves triple cask maturation of unpeated spirit for a minimum of twelve years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels, and port casks. The whisky from each cask is then carefully blended to create a smooth and well-balanced single malt, layered with flavors of baked fruit, maple honey, and cocoa, followed by a lingering finish of sultana and spiced mocha.
