What is sour beer?

Traditional beers are fermented with an introduction of the yeast strain the brewer is specifically looking for but sour beer made in the Belgian way lets the wort cool after straining and leaves it open and exposed to the natural yeasts in the air around it.

The result is a pleasant discovery of flavours rather than the strict encouragement of a particular type so if you're adventurous with your taste buds then sour beer could be the tipple of choice for you. Sour beer is also a great hit with traditional non-beer drinkers who find the lager, the pale ale and the stout to be too heavy tasting.
