Bombay Sapphire was established by English wine-merchant IDV in 1986 and the etymology comes from the popularity of gin in the times of the British Raj in India and the infamous 182-carat violet-blue Star of Bombay "Sapphire" gem from the mines of Sri Lanka that now lives in the Smithsonian in Washington DC. Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon Gin is a 47% ABV small-batch gin that's produced using hand-picked and hand-peeled mandarins, lemons and sweet Navel oranges from Murcia, in the southeast of Spain. Best served over cracked ice with premium tonic and a thick wedge of orange.
