By 1788, the Boehm family were living in Kentucky and had Americanized their family name to "Beam. Jacob Beam was one of those incentivised by the U.S. government to grow corn and distilled excess corn with an old whiskey recipe of his father's, selling Old Jake Beam Sour Mash in the 3 year-old state of Kentucky for the very first time in 1795. Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon is 43% ABV, matured in charred American white oak barrels and boasts smokey smooth caramel, toffee flavours.
