The Island Rum Company was established in 2012 by Enrique Arías, Tore Villard and Hans Christian Holst, and draws its name from their collective love of Cuba's nature, culture, traditions and love of fine spirits. Black Tears Dry Spiced Rum by Vigia Cuban is 40% ABV and is named for 'Lagrimas Negras' ('Black Tears'), a song written by Miguel Matamoros in 1928. Black Tears is rich with cacao and coffee aromas and flavours, with healthy additions of local Cuban Aji Dulce (sweet chilli pepper) driving a complex yet velvet-smooth mouthfeel that flows across the palate for a long-lasting and subtle spicy finish.
